We Don’t Have Just One Life
In my past lives, I was a stylist. I was also a decorator. I was about to become a passionate creator.
At the end of 2017, a new chapter began. The title? The day I left my heart in India.
The story starts with a discovery. A breath of madness. An encounter.
The discovery of a country, India. Of an ancient craft, block printing. Of Indians, these artists.
Their patience, their kindness, their sense of color and detail, their multicolored world, the fabrics drying on house facades and on the scorching ground captivated me.
What followed was written in a breath of madness.
150 meters of fabric bought in a few hours, a small capsule collection for my decoration store created in two days. The dream project was launched. Here began the new chapter of my life. Kirane. An obvious choice.
Kirane means “ray of sunshine” in Hindi, and as fate would have it, it is also an anagram of my name, Karine.
The encounter has a name: Bhanu. More than a right-hand man, he is my voice and my Indian path.
He is the one who brings this collection to life every day and accompanies me on the other side of the world.
The enchantment of the journey would soon be followed by the harshness of work, doubts in the face of disappointments, but also the joys of the first successes, the happiness of seeing my textile line come to life.
I remember the first summer collection of 2018 at the Côté Sud show and the enthusiastic reception, hoped for but unexpected, from bloggers, journalists, and you…
This wild adventure is also yours.
We don’t have just one life.
Thank you.
